COURT HEARS APPEALS

Maseru, Apr. 17 — The Court of Appeal through the President of the Court Professor Kananelo Mosito, Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane and Judge Moses Chinghengo on Wednesday heard two appeals by Relebohile Lesholu and Former Director General of Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) Advocate Mahlomola Manyokole against the state.

The appellants are each challenging a decision by the High Court through Justice Maliepollo Makhetha whereby their applications for permanent stay of prosecution were dismissed.

The Court of Appeal resolved to hear both appeals together, though not consolidating them, as they are the same in structure. This was done in order to avoid conflicting judgments. The court announced that a composite judgment will be prepared in relation to both matters.

The appellants together with others are facing charges comprising money laundering and corruption which allegedly occurred in 2020 and 2021.
