Maseru, Oct. 13 — The High Court through Justice Charles Hungwe has on Monday started hearing evidence from the defence in a case in which four police officers are charged with the murder of their colleague, Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng.
This comes after the prosecution closed its case and the defence moved an unsuccessful application for discharge.
The defence through Advocate Karabo Mohau (KC) who is representing the first accused in the matter, Superintendent Thabo Tsukulu, introduced Senior Superintendent ‘Malichaba Talasi who was in 2016 stationed at Leribe Police Station.
Before the witness commenced with her testimony Adv. Mohau told the court that their efforts to obtain occurrence books kept by the Leribe Police have until now been unsuccessful. He stated that it has been eight long years since his client was arrested adding that the case has dragged-on for far too long. He said they will therefore continue to present their case despite the unavailability of the documents.
