Botha-Bothe, Nov. 27 — The District Administrator (DA) in collaboration with the police has intensified efforts to help schools combat drug abuse among learners.
Speaking to the Agency, District Administrator Mr. Ts’epa Chaba said drug abuse has become a concern in Botha-Bothe, prompting him to work with education authorities and law-enforcement agencies.
“When schools and the education office expressed their worry over drug abuse among learners, I had to step in. We must save our children from this monster,” he said.
Mr. Chaba explained that he recently visited hostels where learners stay during school days to raise awareness among hostel owners about the importance of monitoring children and reporting suspicious behaviour.
He added that Botha-Bothe has become an education hub attracting learners from different districts, which unfortunately also draws criminals who target students by selling them drugs.
Botha-Bothe District Assistant Police Commissioner Motebang Mphahama confirmed the concerns, noting that drug abuse—particularly the use of dagga—has become a major challenge in schools and surrounding communities…
