DIFA BEREA SETS 2026 B DIVISIONS PLAY-OFFS, TIGHTENS AGE RULES

Berea, Feb. 10 — The District Football Association (DIFA) Berea has finalized preparations for the 2026 ‘B’ Division play-offs following a meeting with football coaches held in Teyateyaneng on Tuesday.

DIFA Berea president, Mr. Lekhooa Thabaneng announced that the play-offs will kick off on February 21, with Limited Football Club set to face Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) TY FC in the opening fixture.

Mr. Thabaneng further urged coaches to intensify preparations to ensure strong competition.

He further stated that the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) expects districts to produce outstanding talent, with the best players from the competition expected to be identified by March 31.

Age compliance emerged as a major issue during the meeting, with Mr. Moeketsi Setho Jakobo raising concerns over recurring challenges in junior categories.

He said the Under-20 division, in particular, continues to face problems because some coaches either misunderstand or fail to follow age regulations.

He added that underage teams that do not have the required number of properly registered players will not be allowed to participate in competitions through the FIFA Connect system.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Statistics Publicity Committee Berea attended the meeting to educate coaches about the upcoming Population and Housing Census, emphasizing the importance of community participation. The committee will also be part of the sponsors supporting the games.
