Maseru, Nov.04—Lerotholi Polytechnic is celebrating 120th anniversary of its existence with the inauguration of His Royal Highness Prince Lerotholi Mohato Seeiso as the institution’s Chancellor at the event to be held on December 12.
Lerotholi Polytechnic Registrar Advocate Maleshoane Lepota-Mosakeng told the Agency in an interview where she said this emanates from Higher Education Act 2004 Section 22 Sub-section 1 which binds higher learning institutions to have Chancellor therefore saying the institution’s Council found it fitting to appoint Prince Lerotholi.
“This institution was founded from the Royal image so who better to be Chancellor than Prince Lerotholi”, she said.
The Registrar then explained that the Chancellor is not an employee of the Lerotholi Polytechnic and is not on the institution’s payroll. She said this is just a ceremonial title saying that the Chancellor will do so in celebrations such as graduations. She added that the Chancellor with his status will be able to help in finding and securing regular and reliable sources of funding to support its long-term sustainability and growth.
On the other hand, Adv. Lepota-Mosakeng mentioned that there will be other activities to celebrate this milestone including a gala dinner to be on November 20 which she said will reflect on where Lerotholi comes from, where it is now and where they see it in the next 120 years…
