Qacha’s Nek, Nov. 21 — A transformative week-long health and safety training program will conclude on Friday this week, benefiting 27 representatives from Grazing Associations (GAs) across three rural communities that include Melikane, Mosuoe-Mapakising and Matee.
Hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the Regeneration of Livelihoods and Landscapes (ROLL) project, the training is part of a larger initiative to equip these communities with vital knowledge on workplace safety, wildfire prevention, and environmental protection.
The event, held at the Qacha’s Nek FTC, ran concurrently with another session at Ha Sekake, targeting an additional 20 participants.
According to Mr. Bokang Shakhane, Field Officer for the ROLL project, the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance livelihoods and safeguard the environment. “Our goal is to ensure people’s safety while they work to improve their surroundings and livelihood. We’re training these representatives so they can share the knowledge with others.”
