HEAD OF DEPARTMENTS URGED TO MAINSTREAM DISABILITY IN DISTRICT OPERATIONS

Quthing, Sept. 23 – Heads of government and non-governmental departments in the district have been urged to integrate disability considerations into their operations.

This call was made by the Principal Rehabilitation Officer from the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development Ms. Palesa Mofubelu during a half-day sensitization meeting on disability mainstreaming, held at the District Administrator’s Hall on Tuesday this week.

Ms. Mofubelu highlighted that disability mainstreaming is the process of integrating the needs, interests, and aspirations of persons with disabilities into all normal development policies, plans, and Programmes, ensuring their equal participation and inclusion in society.

She said the disability mainstreaming involves making sure that basic public services such as education, health, and vocational training are accessible to persons with disabilities, moving away from separate, disability-focused services…
