IEC FIRES WARNING SHOTS AGAINST NON-COMPLIANT PARTIES

Maseru, Sept 05 — The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has fired a warning shots on air against all the political parties which are not complying with financial regulations of the Commission.

Speaking at the media briefing on Tuesday, Director of Elections Advocate Mpaiphele Maqutu said many political parties have failed to comply with the financial regulations by submitting their financial reports to the Commission.

He said these political parties should have submitted their financial reports by May 31 this year after receiving the campaign funding ahead of the October 07, 2022 General elections but to date only Alliance of Democrats (AD) has a 100 percent compliance while the rest have not.

‘AD is a shining example for timeously complying with the financial regulations and ought to be commended for being a good example’ he highlighted.
