Maseru, June 12 — The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will save a lot of money after purchasing a new building at Maseru West that will be used as the Commission’s headquarters.
This was revealed at the IEC’s media briefing held at its new Headquarters in Maseru West on Wednesday.
Director of Elections Advocate Mpaiphele Maqutu said after purchasing the new building, IEC will save a lot of money for renting purposes, saying that money will now be diverted to the Commission’s projects.
He made an example that the IEC needs to work on dismantling the old voters’ registration database as well as to prepare for the referendum, which he said will be a new experience for the Commission.
