KING EXPRESSES GRATITUDE OVER PORTUGAL’S SUPPORT

Maseru, Nov. 20 — King Letsie III has expressed gratitude to the government of Portugal over its support in Lesotho’s developmental programmes.

This he said when accepting letters of credence from Portuguese Ambassador to Lesotho Mr. Jose Fernando Alves Da Costa Periera at the Royal Palace on Thursday.

The King also expressed gratitude for Portugal’s financial support through the world food programme for Lesotho’s effort in the development and strengthening of climate resilience food systems for the improvement of the livelihoods of most vulnerable communities.

He also said both countries’ common membership to a number of international organisations, including the United Nations should serve as a platform to build stronger relations between the two countries, which will enable them to pursue common goals of building a peaceful and prosperous world.

“Closer cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels can only enhance our ability to find solutions to challenges facing our world,” he said. . . .
