Maseru, Aug. 14 — The Africa Water Investment Summit taking place in Cape Town has honoured King Letsie III for his exceptional leadership in championing the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), recognised as a continental model for transboundary cooperation for peace, resilience and sustainable development.
The award was received by the Minister for Natural Resources Mr. Mohlomi Moleko on behalf of the King.
Lesotho’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ambassador Ms. Nts’iuoa Sekete, hailed the recognition as a testament to what Africa can achieve through cooperation grounded in equity and mutual benefit.
She underscored that the LHWP demonstrates how infrastructure investments can be transformative drivers for peace, economic growth and climate resilience.
