Maseru, Aug. 14 — The Ministry of Labour and Employment, in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and workers’ associations, has convened a capacity-building workshop in Maseru to strengthen the country’s labour governance and reporting systems.
The workshop, which began on Tuesday, is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that Lesotho aligns its labour policies and practices with international labour standards.
In an interview with the Agency on Thursday, the Labour Commissioner, Mrs. ’Mamohale Matsoso explained that the key focus of the workshop is on the ILO conventions that promote a safe, fair, and conducive working environment for employees.
She said that its discussions are centred on the rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees under the conventions, as well as strategies for improving the workplace climate.
