LCS APOLOGISES

Maseru, Jan.22 — Lesotho Correctional Services has apologized to the nation for the unfortunate incident in which an inmate killed another at the Maseru Central Correctional Institution (MCCI) on Tuesday morning.

This was said by Senior Superintendent Martin ‘Molaoa on behalf of Officer Commanding MCCI during a media briefing on Wednesday in the presence of Commissioner Mating Nkakala, Assistant Commissioner Matingoe Phamotse and Deputy Commissioner Mosheoane Ts’olo.

He said that it is their responsibility as the institution to serve inmates convicted or not convicted and ensure that they leave there alive saying therefore they have failed their work.

“Whether failure or negligence but at the end of the day an inmate has died. An inmate that the family expected us to return him back alive and that he would be productive to the community. We have not done our work to the satisfaction that the country and nation expected,” he emphasized. . .
