Maseru, Jul.29—Seargeant Lekhooa Moepi, one of the members of the Lesotho Defence Force who are charged with the murder of Maaparankoe Mahao, has through his lawyer Advocate Qhalehang Letsika, admitted that he took part in an operation which was intended to arrest the deceased but resulted in his death.
During cross-examination of the current Army Commander Lieutenant General Mojalefa Letsoela who is on the stand as state witness number 38 in this case, Adv. Letsika stated that on June 25 2015, the accused who was serving in the Military Intelligence within the LDF until his arrest, provided surveillance for security purposes on that day.
He added that after the shooting and while he was at a spot away from the scene with one of his co-accused, he heard the voice of the late Tefo Hashatsi talking on the phone about the shooting of the deceased saying, ‘shit has happened’. He emphasised that the utterance meant that something they did not anticipate happened…SM/BM
