MASERU, Aug. 20 — Revenue Service Lesotho (RSL) on Thursday held an event in Maseru to commemorate Women in Business and recognise the contribution of women to entrepreneurship and economic development.
In her remarks, the Acting Commissioner Client Services Mrs. Lieketseng Lipholo stated that the event was aimed at celebrating women who are making a positive impact in the entrepreneurship sector.
She noted that the initiative was also intended to empower women and support them in growing their businesses, noting that women-owned enterprises contribute significantly to the economy through job creation and income generation.
Mrs. Lipholo highlighted the importance of creating an environment where women entrepreneurs can access information, develop their businesses and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.
She stated that RSL remains committed to engaging women in business and providing them with relevant tax education and support to help them meet their obligations while building sustainable enterprises.
Speaking on matters of women empowerment, an entrepreneur Mrs. ‘Marethabile Sekhiba urged women to stand firmly in their businesses and should also strive to support each other.
She mentioned that in the business sector it is important to have ambitions therefore urging women to have sustainable businesses and plans that will leave lasting legacies.
She also advised on the importance of having businesses registered with all the relevant departments.
The event brought together women entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to share experiences, knowledge and opportunities aimed at strengthening women’s participation in business.
The commemoration forms part of broader efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment and encourage greater participation of women in entrepreneurship in Lesotho.
