LEFA PRESIDENT PROUD OF LIKUENA

Maseru, Oct. 10 — The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) President, Advocate Salemane Phafane has expressed his gratitude to the Senior National Team Technical staff and players for digging deep to conclude the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers with a win over Zimbabwe to finish the campaign with 12 points-the biggest for the country in major international qualifiers.

The LeFA President is adamant Likuena will continue to punch above its weight despite the pain of having to host its games away from home since Setsoto Stadium was suspended in 2021.

Advocate Phafane stated that LeFA intends to put more resources on Likuena and all the national teams to push them to grind more positive results in international competitions.

“We are very happy with the progress that the team continues to make playing against powerhouses and countries that ranked way ahead,” Advocate Phafane said. “On behalf of the association, I also wish to thank the Executive Major of Polokwane, Councillor Clark Makoro John Mpe and the whole warm hospitality given to our team, members of LeFA and all Basotho that travelled for the two matches played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.”

“To the members of the media who travelled to Polokwane as well as our supporters, we are humbled by the love and commitment towards the team,” he continued.

Likuena hosted Nigeria on October 10 and Zimbabwe three days later on October 13, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa.
