Maseru, Aug. 28 — Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) in collaboration with Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), will on Friday this week, launch the Football for Schools (F4S), a programme designed to make football more accessible to youngsters by embedding football activities with the education system.
LEFA Information and Communications Manager, Mr. Mikia Kalati said the FIFA run initiative has had a positive impact reaching over 31 million children globally since it was launched in 2022.
He indicated that the FIFA Football for Schools will commence with a Coaching course for 50 participants, who are all primary schools teachers and will be conducted by FIFA Instructors from Spain, who arrived in the country on Tuesday.
He also made mention that the programme is in line with LEFA’s Strategic Plan that seeks to make football more accessible to both girls and boys.
The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sports as well as LEPSSA are among key stakeholders that are expected to play a key role in the out rolling of the Football For Schools given the programme is designed for use in schools settings.
The focus group for this programme is boys and girls aged 6 to twelve.
