WILDFIRES HARM ENVIRONMENT ADVERSELY – MAKARA 

Thaba Tseka Aug 28 – Wildfires that erupt across the country especially in rangelands harm the environment adversely.

This was said by The Coordinator in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Ms. Mamabitsa Makara  in an interview with the Agency on Wednesday where she said  comparatively, Thaba Tseka has done better than other districts in protecting their rangelands.

She continued to state that most of the recorded incidents are reported to have been caused by accidents such as burning trash.

Ms Makara indicated that most incidents happened in villages or near villages, not the rangelands. She added that a case of a fire started at the wetland was reported, and the perpetrator has been fined in line with the Environment Act…
