Berea, June 19 — World Vision Lesotho launched its 2026–2030 community strategy in Bela-Bela on Friday, under the theme: “Transforming Lives, empowering communities with Agile, low-cost, high impact programs.”
Speaking during the launch, World Vision Lesotho Director General Mr James Chifwelu said the new strategy will prioritise the prevention of violence against children, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, and the support of sustainable livelihoods.
He said the initiative targets about 650,000 vulnerable children across the country between 2026 and 2030, adding that the organisation seeks to deepen collaboration with communities through an integrated approach.
“Our goal is to work closely with communities in the most coordinated and impactful way possible,” Mr Chifwelu said, noting that the launch also placed strong emphasis on community participation as key stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the District Child Protection Team, Ms Thato Masupha said their mandate is to coordinate and strengthen efforts aimed at preventing and responding to child protection issues.
She emphasised that the protection of children is a shared responsibility involving government ministries, development partners, schools, faith-based organisations, communities and families.
