Berea, Sept. 19 — Despite the police’s nationwide call for people to surrender illegal weapons, gun violence continues to claim lives of people, particularly in Berea district whereby Kolojane Area Chief was gunned down by unknown men.
According to the LMPS Public Relations Officer (PRO) Senior Inspector (Snr. Ins.) Mpiti Mopeli confirmed the death of Kolojane Area Chief following Wednesday attack around 1:00 am by about four men at his house.
Snr. Insp. Mopeli said police investigations have revealed that during such an attack, the perpetrators stormed his compound and started by shooting seven cows of the deceased of which resulted in the death of one cow.
He further said the attackers then later rushed to the house shot and killed the Area Chief and also setting his house on fire, adding that his wife managed to escape such an attack.
