Maseru, Nov.24 — Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development Mr. Pitso Lesaoana on Friday officiated the launch of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence at an event held in Semonkong.
The 16 Days campaign which runs from November 25 to December 10 annually, is used as an organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to give a collective call for the elimination of all forms of violence against women.
In his remarks, Mr. Lesaoana said that this is an international event which Lesotho is no exception.
He said that all including families, organizations should stand up and protect women and girls in every way can.
He said that the government has started playing its part by passing of the two laws of Counter Domestic Violence Act 2022 and Harmonization of the Rights of Customary Widows with the Legal Capacity of Married Persons Act 2022 in December last year. . .
