Maseru, July. 09 — In a significant step towards justice reform, the Government of Lesotho, through its Ministry of Justice and with support from the European Union, has officially launched a nationwide Justice Needs Survey.
The initiative is designed to understand the legal challenges Basotho face and identify practical ways to enhance access to justice, especially for marginalised communities.
The one-day exploratory workshop held in Maseru where Principal Chiefs convened to discuss the survey’s goals, Objectives and community impact. The workshop served as a platform for traditional leaders to share insights on the justice gaps affecting their regions.
The Minister of Justice Mr. Richard Ramoeletsi noted that the survey is a vital tool for giving ordinary citizens a voice in justice sector reform.
“We are particularly focusing on vulnerable populations, women, youth, people living with disabilities, and all vulnerable groups whose experiences with legal systems are often overlooked,” he said.. .
