Maseru, April 03 — Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC) lacking direct sea access face hurdles in trade, connectivity and development as without coastal ports, they rely on transit nations causing high trade costs and delays.
This emerged at the stakeholders preparatory meeting held by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development for the third Landlocked Developing Countries conference which is expected to be held from June 18 to 21 in Rwanda.
Speaking at this event, the Deputy Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development Mr. Jobo Rasoko said that this meeting will look into Lesotho’s preparedness for the LLDC third conference.
He said that this meeting will also come up with ways which can be used to create awareness on the importance of developing landlocked countries.
