Maseru, Apr. 19 — Finally there is light at the end of the tunnel for Village health Workers (VHWs) as plans for them to get paid monthly instead of quarterly are at an advanced stage.
The Village Health workers are paid quarterly but at times they go beyond the quarter without payment thus as far as six months and beyond.
This was disclosed by Ministry of Health Acting Director General Health Services Dr. ‘Makhoase – Ranyali-Otubanjo in an interview on Friday where she said that they are in the process to finalize capturing them in the community health worker master list, a system that will assist in making the payments monthly.
She said that once this is final or completed then probably this financial year they will be paid monthly.
