Berea, July 09 — In preparation for decentralizing services for people with disability, Lesotho National Federation of the Disabled (LNFOD) has engaged a delegation of over 40 people with disability from different parts of Berea into a two day workshop staged at Thakaneng Youth Center in Teyateyaneng.
When addressing the delegation, LNFOD Officer Mr. Rabasotho Moeletsi said people with disability are still marginalized in terms of accessing some services because most of them are still centralized, therefore they saw the need to decentralize services to the district level as part of working together in promoting gender responsive and disability inclusive.
Mr. Moeletsi said the purpose of the workshop is to establish a district federation to act as an umbrella body for groups of people living with disability and to coordinate them in relation to their different forms of impairment.
He stressed that LNFOD is also going to run a project called Gender And Disability In Practice (GADIP) to target mainly four community councils which includes, Berea Urban, Mapoteng, Motanasela and Phuthiatsana, but regardless of having identified such project areas, they are going to provide services for all people with disability.
