Maseru, Jan. 12–The South African High Court ruling to have the state begin the rescue operations for illegal miners in shaft 10 and 11 of the Stilfontein mine, has received a good reception from civil organisations.
The illegal miners are believed to be citizens of Lesotho, South Africa (SA) and Mozambique.
Mining Affected Communities United in Action (MACUA) has given a warm welcome to the court ruling .
The organisation’s Spokesperson, Sabelo Mguni, says the decision was long overdue, and in the past three months, they have been hoping and requesting the rescue operations but police kept on reminding them that it was not their job or mandate to go underground…
