MADAGASCAR ASSUMES CHAIR OF SADC STANDING COMMITTEE

Maseru, Aug.06—Senior Officials of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on Wednesday convened in Antananarivo, Republic of Madagascar, in preparation for the SADC Council of Ministers Meeting scheduled for August 12, which will deliberate on key regional priorities and developments.

The meeting witnessed the official handover of the Chairpersonship of the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials from Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, to Mr. Eric Ratsimbazafy, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar.

In his remarks, Ambassador Chimbindi expressed deep appreciation to all SADC Member States for their unwavering support during Zimbabwe’s tenure as Chair of the Committee… AT/BM
