MINISTRY OF HEALTH RECEIVES OVER 1.3 BILLION FROM GLOBAL FUND

Maseru, Nov. 25 — Marking 20 years of partnership with the Global Fund and celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of Basotho nation, Lesotho’s Ministry of Health has been granted over 1.3 million USD (estimated to over 1.3 billion maloti) from the Global Fund. The funds aim to bolster the country’s health systems in combating HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB).

Appreciating the gesture on behalf of the government of Lesotho Deputy Prime Minister Justice Nthomeng Majara, highlighted the urgency of tackling Lesotho’s 18.5% HIV/AIDS prevalence rate, the second highest globally. 

She acknowledged the co-infection challenges posed by HIV/AIDS and TB but expressed confidence that the renewed support from the Global Fund would enable the country to implement effective strategies. The DPM stressed the importance of achieving measurable outcomes by the end of the three-year program. . .
