Maseru, Oct 17 — There has been different reactions from Basotho on the vote of no confidence against the Government of Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane which was filed by Basotho National Party (BNP) Mr. Machesetsa Mofomobe in the National Assembly.
The much-awaited motion was supposed to be debated in the National Assembly on Monday but a constitutional court challenging the same motion led to Speaker of National Assembly Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane adjourning the debate to give the courts of law time to pronounce themselves on the matter.
When approached for comment, former Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Lesao Lehohla believed that while it was a democratic process to file the motion of no confidence against the Government and Prime Minister, he feared that the opposition political parties might come to haunt the electorate by increasing the size of the cabinet.
He said all the political parties which support the motion of no confidence are doing so hoping to have a stake in the new cabinet, saying that will definitely be a burden to the taxpayers who are already struggling to make ends meet.
