MOHALE FACES NIECE’S RAPE

Mohale’s Hoek, March 27 — A 62 year-old man from Riverside in Ketane, Setoki Johannes Mohale, is expected to be back in court on May 07 charged with rape of his 16 year-old niece between February and March 2015.

The victim informed the court that she was a student in one of the high schools in the district, staying with Mohale’s grand daughter whom the latter would sent to the shops, then allegedly raped the victim several times at gun point, noting the incident happened about 9 times.

However, Mohale’s lawyer Adv. Mosoeunyane Masiphole had previously discredited the victim’s evidence by noting that it contradicts the statement the latter communicated to the police when reporting the incident, as she talked about 8 times not 9.

Mohale who is a taxi owner operating between Ketane and Mohale’s Hoek, is facing 8 counts of sexual offence and had previously been granted bail on his own recognition, on condition that he attends remands and stands trial, never interfere with crown witness, and is charged with contravening Section 3, Subsection 2, read with Section 32 (a) (ii) of the Sexual Offences Act No:3 of 2003.

The case is before Resident Magistrate Kakapa Tau and Sehlooho Mathe for Public Prosecution.
