Maseru, Feb. 25 — The nation will commemorate Moshoeshoe’s Day at the Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village on March 11.
This is according to a savingram from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, read before the National Assembly on Wednesday by Speaker Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane.
The savingram states that the commemoration will begin with the laying of wreaths at the grave of Moshoeshoe I by His Majesty King Letsie III, the three Kings of Makhoakhoa, Batlokoa and Bataung, as well as the Prime Minister, Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane.
It further indicates that the 60th Independence Diamond Jubilee logo will be unveiled during the event, followed by selected cultural entertainment.
The Speaker of the National Assembly and Members of the House have been invited to attend the commemoration.
Moshoeshoe’s Day is observed annually to honour the founder of the Basotho nation, King Moshoeshoe I, who died on March 11, 1870.
