Maseru, Mar. 17 — Leader of HOPE Mrs. Machabana Lemphane Letsie says there is inconsistency in the Members of Parliament (MPs) salaries (amendment of schedule) regulations 2024 thus need thorough analysis.
This she said during the proceedings of the National Assembly on Monday when moving the motion of disallowance of MPs salaries (amendment of schedule) regulations 2024 for purposes of re-drafting.
Mrs. Lemphane Letsie said she has learned that the MPs salaries (amendment of schedule ) regulations, 2024 was released in November last year instead of April the same year like those of civil servants, meaning MPs were paid illegally during that period.
“Salaries of civil servants come into effect immediately when the next financial year resumes through the gazette which is always released on time but that is not the case with Parliamentarians” she said…
