NO LESOTHO NOMINEES FOR COSAFA AWARDS

Maseru, April 17 — There will be no representation from Lesotho for the inaugural COSAFA Awards that were scheduled for Friday, 19 April but have been postponed to Thursday, 9 May due to the unavailability of key stakeholders.

Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) Media Officer Mr. Mikia Kalati has confirmed that Lesotho will not be represented in this year’s inaugural COSAFA Awards, saying Likuena international goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane came close to being nominated as he was eliminated in the top five.

He said Moerane’s disadvantage was that Likuena failed to qualify for the previous edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals which is the major tournament in Africa more than the regional COSAFA Cup, where Sekhoane’s heroics helped Likuena to reach the final.

Mr. Kalati also lamented that Boitumelo ‘Queen’ Rabale who is the Mehalalitoe skipper and also plies her soccer trade at Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies should have been nominated for the awards due to her sterling performances and winning several awards with her club in Africa and in South Africa.
