NUL VICE CHANCELLOR CONCLUDES TENURE OF OFFICE

MASERU – The National University of Lesotho (NUL) outgoing Vice Chancellor has expressed appreciation for having been given an opportunity to serve in Lesotho, particulaly the institute of higher learning whose Chancellor is King Letsie III.

A letter by Professor Isaac Olusola Fajana, a Nigerian national has shown that with the Head of State and Chancellor of NUL showing high level of support to the university’s Vice Chancellors, there is hope for Lesotho’s education sector.

To the 14th, 15th and 16th Councils he has worked with, the academia said even though the university continues to encounter opportunities and challenges but their guidance and support has enabled the institution to remain steadfast.

Professor Fajana further encouraged students to pursue exellence in their studies while urging staff to continue offering high level of research, academic skills as well as strengthening adminitrative measures for growth of the university.

On the contrary, the NUL suspended Pro Vice Chancellor Associate Professor Kananelo Mosito is reported to have shown himself at the university on Friday (July 31, 2026), saying the Court of Appeal Judgement on June 05,2026 places him as Acting Vice Chancellor.

Therefore, the university through a release issued on July 31, 2026 has informed the public and detached itself from the aforementioned matter on ground that the responsibility to appoint a candidate to acting in the position of Vice Chancellor lies entirely on the university’s Council.

NUL is an institution of higher learning in the country and headed by His Majesty King Letsie lll. The outgoing Professor was the 10th Vice Chancellor who assumed duty on August 02, 2021.

Born and bred in Nigeria, Professor Fajana holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Relations from the University of Lagos, Nigeria acquired in 1991.

He also holds a Master of Science in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the same university in 1985, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria acquired in 1981.
