POLICE RECORDS MORE WILDFIRE CASES

Qacha’s Nek, Oct.12 — Lance Sergeant Keiso Sekoati, Police Headquarters Fire and Rescue Officer under the Department of Firefighters says the police has recorded more wildfires than structural fires countrywide this year.

This he revealed in an ongoing training hosted by the Department of Forestry through its Regeneration of Livelihoods and Landscapes (ROLL) project for grazing and beekeepers’ associations to transform landscapes and livelihoods in natural resources management.

He said this without saying the exact numbers.

Lance Sergeant Sekoati said reports show that some people burn intentionally, others burn because they want green grass as they believe that green grass is grown by burning while others burn to make it easy for them to steal animals.
