Maseru,July. 14–The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) has continued to warn the nation that under age marriage is a criminal offence with which legal actions can be bestoned upon the perpetrators.
This was said by the officer in charge of the Child and Gender Protection Unit (CGPU) within the LMPS Inspector ‘Mamosa Maile following the arrest of a 23 year old man of Matelile, Mafeteng after he was alleged to have married a 14 year old girl.
Inspector Maile said that no matter the situation that leads to early child marriages, parents and guardians should report any eloping fostered on their children as long as they are still underage. . .
