Maseru, Feb.23– Legal representative for some of the accused in the ongoing Mohale Dam Murder Trial, Advocate Napo Mafaesa says it is by design that the police do not allow lawyers to be present during investigations as they did in this matter.
This he said in a trial-within-trial while cross-examining Inspector Nthejane who has been on the stand as a state witness.
The witness stated that lawyers take part in investigations especially when a suspect is not available. He said they often find their clients and bring them to the police. He added that lawyers also take part during disciplinary hearings within the police service.
