CONSTRUCTION ADVANCES AT QUTHING BUS TERMINAL

Quhing, April.22 — Interior finishing works are currently underway at the office block, one of three structures being developed at the new Quthing Bus Terminal under a year-long infrastructure project.

The project, which commenced early last year, is being implemented by Founder Construction Engineering under contract from the Ministry of Local Government through the Quthing Urban Council. Completion is expected within the current year, following delays attributed to unforeseen circumstances.

Site Foreman, Mr. Halifele Lejaha, told the Lesotho News Agency (LENA) in an interview that ongoing works include the installation of key functional elements such as flooring, plumbing, electricity, ceilings and floor tiles. He noted that roofing of the retail stores building will follow, alongside interior finishing and the construction of vendor stalls.

Mr. Lejaha added that upcoming activities will involve the erection of columns for the taxi bay shelter, to be followed by bus bay shelters, as well as layer works and paving across the terminal site.

He further indicated that out of 24 temporary workers initially engaged, eight bricklayers and three general workers have been retrenched but will be recalled when paving activities commence.

Similar government development projects are ongoing in other districts, including Mohale’s Hoek, Mafeteng, Berea, Thaba-Tseka and Hlotse.
