Quthing, Aug. 06 — At least 560 vulnerable households from different villages in the areas of Liqala and Majoemats’so, have received rice and sorghum grain food assistance during the ongoing three-week food distribution activity carried out by Disaster Management Authority (DMA) district office that started from Tuesday this week.
The Quthing District Disaster Management Manager (DDM), Mr. Thabo Letsie told the Agency in an interview that the food distribution activity targeting a total of more than 2400 households from four constituencies of the district is intended to relief them from hunger with rice grain donated by China and India governments, and sorghum grain from the government of Lesotho.
Mr. Letsie highlighted that the sorghum grain has been purchased from local farmers to boost the country’s agricultural sector, enhance food security and promote economic growth.
He added that each of the beneficiaries has received 25kg of rice grain and of sorghum to ensure positive impact of the food support in response to hunger faced by the households.
