POVERTY HITS JUVENILE CENTRE

Maseru, Aug.05—Poverty, hunger and dilapidated infrastructure at the Lesotho Correctional Service Juvenile Training Centre are identified as  challenges that the centre is faced with.

This was said by the Head of the Juvenile Training Centre Superintendent Mohlanka Lehloenya speaking to the Agency in an interview on Saturday

It is in this interview that Superintendent Lehloenya indicated that the centre is faced with numerous challenges which also include food as the detainees eat maize meal and legumes for a period of 6 months as they have no other alternative.

He stated that one of the challenges that the centre is faced with is the dilapidated infrastructure which has been used since the establishment of centre in the early 1970 showing that such challenges disputes the rehabilitation of the detainees.
