PROFESSOR MACHOBANE HONOURED WITH OFFICIAL FUNERAL

MASERU — The former Minister of Education and Training (MoET), renowned scholar and historian Professor Lehlohonolo Machobane was honoured with an official burial service and funeral in Maseru on Friday.

This after Professor L.B.B.J. aged 84 years old met his death due to pneumonia.

His burial service commenced with prayer led by CCL.

Delivering condolences to the nation, the Head of State, King Letsie lll said he counts himself lucky that he has known the deceased personally and on a professional level, thus receiving counsel.

He thanked God and Machobane’s family for having nurtured  a man who served the  Mountain Kingdom with deligence.

The King further urged the nation in their different spheres to serve Basotho with dignity like the late father. “He will remembered for his intellectual brilliance.”

Similarly, the Acting Prime Minister, Justice Nthomeng Majara mentioned she has known the deceased while they were both working as Lecturers at NUL.

“Not only was he my father but i respected him as an archive, an eminent historian but above all as a Man of God who had reference to God.”

She comforted all for the loss, urging Basotho holding different positions in the country to deliver to the best of their abilities in an attempt to honour professor Machobane’s memories.

The Principal Chief of Matsieng, Chief Bereng Seeiso said the deceased was a down to earth character despite his academic achievements, a thing that ought to be copied by all.

On behalf of family, Ms. Nobantu Machobane thanked all for their support during this trying time.

Ms. Machobane Indicated that her  father contributed significantly in the education sector locally. . . .
