SAMIM FORCES EXTEND LIFELINE THROUGH HEALTH FAIR IN NENGADE

Maseru, Apr. 16 — In a collaborative effort to bolster healthcare access in Mozambique’s Nangade District, the Lesotho Contingent (LDF) and their counterparts from the United Republic of Tanzania (URT), operating under the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM), organized and participated in a transformative health fair at Nangade Hospital.

The hospital grounds buzzed with activity as SAMIM forces offered vital doctor patient consultations and dispensed much-needed medication to attendees. Spearheaded by Medical Officer Major (Maj) Thabo Moleleki from Lesotho and Medical Officer Captain (Capt) Aku Botse from the URT, the medical teams demonstrated unwavering commitment to humanitarian service.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Maj. Moleleki noted the essence of the event, stressing that medical aid should be accessible to all, irrespective of its source. He emphasised the efficacy of all prescriptions and urged attendees not to feel restricted to seeking medication exclusively from SAMIM forces.

Reflecting on SAMIM’s mission, Maj Moleleki articulated their duty as medical practitioners to alleviate human suffering, highlighting that true security encompasses more than armed protection, embracing the concept of “human security.”

In a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Hermínio Adelino, the Health Director of Nangade Hospital and organizer of the Health Fair, extended gratitude to SAMIM forces for their unwavering support and dedication. Dr. Adelino highlighted the fair’s inclusivity, aiming to serve the entire community, particularly those facing financial barriers to healthcare.

The Health Fair not only provided essential services but also served as a reinforcement to Nangade Hospital, the sole healthcare facility in the area. Through their collaborative efforts, SAMIM forces reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the well-being of Nangade residents, embodying the spirit of humanitarianism in action.
