Maseru, April 01 — At least 42 cases have been registered for hearing during the first session of the Court of Appeal of Lesotho, scheduled to commence on April 07, 2026.
As is tradition, the President of the Court of Appeal is expected to deliver an opening statement on the first day of the session.
In April 2025, the session was held under the theme “Towards a Resurgent Judiciary: Restoring Honour, Capacity and Confidence in Lesotho’s Superior Courts.”
During that session, the President of the Court, Professor Kananelo Mosito, called for the restoration of the honour of judicial service, strengthening of court capacity, and rebuilding public confidence in the administration of justice at the highest level.
The Court of Appeal also continues to urge legal practitioners to adhere to established rules and court procedures, as well as uphold guiding principles to ensure the efficient administration of justice.
It has emphasised that compliance with court rules helps to minimise unnecessary applications for condonation.
The hearing of all matters is expected to conclude on April 21, 2026, after which judgments will be prepared.
The Court of Appeal is the highest judicial authority in Lesotho. It was established under the Constitution of Lesotho and created through the Court of Appeal Act of 1978.
