Quthing, August 27 — More than 6000 people from some health service areas in Thaba-Tseka and Quthing districts, have been reached during community mobilization activity of the ongoing six months Saving Lives and Livelihoods (SLL) project implementation Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRCS) to be phased out next month.
SLL project funded by International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), has been implemented by Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRCS) in collaboration with district health management teams (DHMTs) from the respective districts, following the Ministry of Health concerns over their low performance in vaccination coverage for COVID-19, HPV and childhood illnesses.
In an interview with the Agency, the SLL Project Officer Ms. Semangela Phethoka highlighted that its activities intended to improve poor performance of the districts in vaccinations coverage has been carried out at some health service areas identified by the Ministry of Health in Quthing and Thaba-Tseka.
She said the SLL project community mobilization activity has been implemented by the DHMTs from the districts, through health clinics under its supervision, covering dissemination of key messages that include importance of life course approach immunization, which promotes timely vaccination across all age groups to prevent vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs).
