Botha-Bothe, Sept. 04 — Botha-Bothe Community high school principal, says it is worrying that many social grants learners’ academic performance is unsatisfactory, attributing this to ignorance.
Mr. Moeketsi Lekanyane said this in an interview with the Agency on Tuesday at an ongoing media tour organised by the Ministries of Education and Training as well as Gender, Youth and Social Development.
He said this is not a concern at his school alone but a matter him and other colleagues in other schools have established as well.
“We are not just talking about those under the Ministry of Social Development alone but many receiving grants from other organizations have turned out to be ignorant. Though the government is obliged to offer assistance, especially at this time when poverty has stricken the country, it seems getting things on a silver platter makes learners irresponsible,” he said.
