CHILDREN PREPARES FOR THEIR PARLIAMENTARY SESSION

Maseru, July 17 — As the country celebrates the 61st King Letsie III birthday, at least 50 children have gathered at Thaba-Bosiu ahead of their National Children’s Parliament session scheduled for Friday at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village.

This year’s National Children’s Parliament session is centered on educational development and will be marked under a theme, ‘Education for all, challenges facing wellbeing and development of the children in Lesotho’.

When welcoming children, representative of the National Children Coordinating Committee (NCPCC) and also World Vision Lesotho (WVL) Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plan Technical Programmes Manager Mr. Motlatsi Taaka urged children to consider themselves very lucky to be nominated and to become the voices of high children’s population countrywide.

Mr. Taaka pointed out that there are many parliaments globally, but there is no specific platform where children can voice out their views, he added that having started at national level they want to model children who can represent the country at the national Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and also at continental level.
