Maseru, May 05 — Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital (QMMH) has announced the arrival of a specialized surgical team from the United States to support and strengthen breast care services at the facility.
According to a press release issued by the hospital, the team will be in the country from May 4 to May 8, working closely with the hospital’s General Surgery Department.
The initiative is aimed at providing expert clinical care while performing a range of surgical procedures for patients with breast conditions.
The visiting specialists will attend to both benign and malignant (cancerous) breast diseases, offering critical services that are expected to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden on local healthcare systems.
QMMH indicated that the collaboration will not only enhance the quality of patient care but also promote skills transfer and knowledge exchange between international experts and local healthcare professionals.
“This initiative is designed to strengthen surgical outcomes and build capacity within our local teams,” the statement noted.
The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare and fostering partnerships that contribute to improved health outcomes for the people of Lesotho.
The programme has been approved by the hospital’s Managing Director, with officials expressing optimism about the long-term benefits of such international collaborations.
