Thaba Tseka, Sept 19 — European Union Procurement Consultant says if the Public Procurement process is not handled well, results will be disastrous and can lead to abandoned projects.
This Dr. Pamela Marendi stated during a one day workshop on Public Procurement Act, 2023 aimed at equipping the local government authorities, private sector, civil societies and media.
She continued to indicate that the Lesotho Procurement process is aimed at disposing off assets that are obsolete, adding that it is worldwide to ensure development, service delivery, acquiring of goods to mention a few.
She said for Lesotho Public Procurement Process to be fully implemented, there should be a need for identification, requirement and confrontation of funding, preparation of the documents, issuance of building documents, preparation and submission of bids, receipt and opening of bids, evaluation award and notification, contract drafting and signature, delivery, payment and contract closure.
