MINISTER MPUTI SETS RECORD STRAIGHT

Maseru, Sept. 19 — The Minister of Public Service Mr. Mputi Mputi says the Commissioner of Police has advised the Market Master to ensure the business community abide by trading regulations and close businesses at 19:30 p.m. to combat criminal activities.

This he said in the National Assembly on Friday when allying fears of the public and setting record straight regarding recent allegations on what is perceived to be state of emergency after the business community was ordered to close businesses at above mentioned time to combat crime.

Mr. Mputi stated that the decision was reached upon realization that some vendors operate throughout the night, sell alcohol and drugs illegally to people who thereafter engage in criminal activities such as mugging, murder and other criminal activities performed

He therefore emphasized that the Police Commissioner was not declaring the state of emergency, allying fears of the public and assuring the public that the Police will strive to put the situation under control. . . .
