TAERPING VILLAGERS INTO AGRICULTURE

Shanglou, Sept.22 — Maize and sorghum are not only famously known as Lesotho’s staple food but are also common in Taerping village in the outskirts of Shanglou city in Shanxi province.

The Taerping Village with the population of about 433,400 is about 60 km from Shanglou city with inhabitants depending much on agriculture.

Every household has a small garden or field where they have planted maize, sorghum, vegetables like cabbage, tomato, rape and beans.

Since the village is situated along the river, the villagers use water from the river for irrigation.
